Out of the Darkness
2026- Featured Exhibition and Current Body of Work
Out of the Darkness is a series of encaustic works exploring the fragile, transformative passage from confusion, grief, trauma, and disorientation toward clarity, awakening, and resilience. Layered wax, embedded materials, texture, and luminous surfaces create a visual language of concealment and emergence, where obscured forms gradually reveal themselves through shadow and light.
The encaustic process becomes a metaphor for memory and transformation: layers accumulate, fracture, conceal, preserve, and ultimately reveal what endures. Darkness is not portrayed as something to escape, but as a terrain through which meaning can be excavated and reimagined.
The exhibition extends this inquiry beyond the visual through tactile sculpture, scent, sound, and taste, creating an immersive environment in which transformation can be encountered through multiple senses. Rooted in personal and collective experience, the series considers the human capacity to move through profound disruption toward awareness, wholeness, and renewal.

The Little Voice of the Blood Moon confronts the suffering of innocence within collective violence, inspired by the story of Hind Rajab, a young Palestinian girl killed in Gaza in 2024. The work transforms a specific tragedy into a meditation on the vulnerability of children caught within forces beyond their control. Within Out of the Darkness, the painting represents one of the series' most difficult questions: how do we hold onto our capacity for empathy when confronted with suffering we cannot undo?

In Realms: Solace for Sacrifice, nature becomes sanctuary. Encaustic and cold-wax paintings and sculptural forms draw upon the meeting of land and water; liminal spaces where change, rupture, and renewal mirror the long arc of trauma and healing.
The coast becomes a realm of solace: a place where sacrifice is acknowledged, silence is broken, and recovery becomes possible. Layers of wax and oil are built, melted, fractured, and reformed, echoing cycles of loss and renewal while evoking the shifting climates and textures of the shore.
The exhibition extends beyond the visual through sound, scent, taste, and touch. Embedded soundscapes evoke fractured emotions and healing; scent tubes invite viewers to encounter memory through olfaction; tactile forms encourage physical connection and contemplation. Bella Ciao immerses the viewer in the unnerving rise of authoritarian sentiment in contemporary America. Acrylic, oil, and cold wax build a shifting landscape where organic forms appear to bud, twist, and mutate. What initially seems ethereal gradually reveals an undercurrent of instability: a metaphor for the subtle creep of fascistic ideology as it takes root within civic life, reshaping the familiar into something increasingly threatening.

Walk a Mile in Their Shoes
2023- Multisensory Environmental Installation
Walk a Mile in Their Shoes is a multisensory conceptual installation that considers the intelligence, interconnectedness, and resilience of Earth’s non-human life. Plants, fungi, microorganisms, and other living systems possess forms of communication, cooperation, adaptation, and awareness that challenge our traditional assumptions about consciousness and intelligence.
Humans often regard these organisms as resources or background to our own existence, yet they sustain nearly every aspect of life. They absorb carbon dioxide, generate oxygen, filter air and water, nourish ecosystems, and provide food, shelter, fuel, and medicine. Their networks operate largely beyond our perception, quietly maintaining the systems upon which we depend.
Yet our relationship with these living communities is profoundly unequal. We pollute their environments, destroy habitats, generate persistent waste, and alter the climate upon which their survival depends. Walk a Mile in Their Shoes asks us to reconsider our position within this interconnected web: What if we experienced the world from the perspective of the beings whose survival makes our own possible? And what happens when the systems sustaining us can no longer sustain themselves?
The installation extends beyond visual experience through scent, taste, touch, and sound, inviting the viewer into a more intimate encounter with the work:

2022- Solo Exhibition
From Somewhere in the Middle considers the vast, largely invisible complexity of an individual life. We encounter one another in ordinary moments, rarely seeing the histories carried beneath the surface: acts of love and courage, grief and survival, trauma and transformation. A seemingly unremarkable presence may contain a lifetime as expansive and contradictory as War and Peace.
The exhibition explores these unseen dimensions through the convergence of impressionism, iconism, and abstraction. Manipulated substrates and layered materials become metaphors for the accumulation and fragmentation of experience, while sound, scent, taste, and touch extend the work beyond visual perception.
Rather than presenting life as a linear narrative, the exhibition reveals it as a shifting field of tragedy and triumph, rupture and resilience, memory and meaning. From this uncertain middle ground, the ordinary becomes charged with significance, and the hidden emotional landscapes of human existence begin to emerge.
